SALIDAS PROGRAMADAS
Our Puna Jujuy Route 40 adventure begins at 9 AM in Humahuaca (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We journey north on Route 9, exploring the Quebrada de Humahuaca, with photo stops at Inca Cueva and Espinazo del Diablo (Devil's Backbone). Beyond Tres Cruces, the Puna unfolds, revealing the unique Huancar formation and its lagoon (endemic birds). We continue to Abra Pampa ("Siberian Argentina") and La Quiaca (Bolivia border). We then join the legendary Route 40, heading west through the Altiplano's dramatic landscapes. We reach Cieneguillas (llama breeding, vicuña shearing) before continuing to Casira Argentina (artisan pottery). Finally, we arrive in Santa Catalina for dinner and overnight.
After a short tour of Santa Catalina, we head to Cabrería and its impressive cliffs, traversing the challenging Puna geography, crossing riverbeds, mountain ranges, and villages like San Juan y Oros and Paicone. Time permitting, we hike to the Paseo de los Ángeles trail to reach the Valley of the Moon (Valle de la Luna) for sunset. We continue to Cusi Cusi for overnight.
After breakfast in Cusi Cusi, we explore the village and its Pueblo Viejo (Old Town). We then revisit the Valley of the Moon for morning light and a hike. On our return to Humahuaca, if time and conditions permit, we stop at Laguna de Pozuelos (Biosphere Reserve) to view flamingos and other wildlife. We return to Humahuaca in the late afternoon.
