Salida Programada
Our journey begins as we bid farewell to Cerro Hornocal and the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a World Heritage Site, to head east and immerse ourselves in the Eastern Cordillera. We ascend a road carved into the Serranía del Hornocal until we reach the Cordón del Zenta. At its abra, 4370 meters above sea level, an impressive panoramic view opens before us, where, weather permitting, we can glimpse distant towns. We will travel above 3800 meters above sea level until we reach the picturesque community of Caspalá, where we will learn about its culture and enjoy a restorative dinner, and the we will head to the community of Santa Ana, where we will spend our first night.
We wake up very early to be part of an unrepeatable experience: sunrise at the
Abra del Valle. We wait for the sun to rise with our host guide, share an Andean breakfast and a unique moment, before this spectacle of colors and sensations. After this experience, we head to a valuable landmark of this trip: the ancestral Camino del Inca or Qhapaq Ñan, recognized by UNESCO. We will walk with a local guide along the millenary path, who will tell us about the meaning and cultural importance of this ancestral road, which continues to be used as a communication route between the communities. We continue by vehicle, diving into a warmer and more vegetated environment, until we reach the town of San Francisco, in the heart of the Yungas, where we will spend the night.
After breakfast in San Francisco, we will register at the tourist information office to begin our excursion to the Termas del Río Jordán, accompanied by local guides. We will enjoy a journey of approximately 6 hours, immersed in the lush nature of the Yungas, to enjoy the warm and turquoise waters of this unique river. In the afternoon, we will have free time in San Francisco to relax, enjoy some mates or do an optional activity.
On our last day, we will leave San Francisco to enter one of the most important protected areas of Jujuy: the Calilegua National Park. Together with a park guide, we will alternate moments in the vehicle with walks along paths that will allow us to spot the local flora and fauna and discover the special characteristics of this ecosystem. After a picnic in the park, we will head to the starting point, where this wonderful and varied adventure ends.
